Reading & Writing Lab

Service Description

Led by Nicole Willsen, NYS Certified English Teacher & Literacy Coordinator Reading & Writing Lab is a six-week small-group program designed for rising students in grades 7-9 who want to strengthen their reading comprehension, writing, and analytical thinking skills before the next school year. Through engaging literacy activities, targeted mini-lessons, independent practice, and individualized feedback, students will develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in English class and beyond. Each 90-minute session includes opportunities to read closely, write purposefully, discuss ideas with peers, and receive personalized coaching from a NYS-certified English teacher and Literacy Coordinator. Students will set goals, build strong academic habits, and leave each session with practical strategies they can apply in school immediately. Students will: - Strengthen reading comprehension and analysis skills - Improve paragraph and essay writing - Build vocabulary and academic language - Develop confidence discussing and writing about texts - Receive individualized feedback and support - Prepare for a successful start to the new school year Program Details - Rising Grades 7-9 - Maximum 8 students - Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 PM (EDT) - July 14-August 18, 2026 - 6 total sessions - Fully Online
